Faulty Installations of Word
Since EasyHTML/Help simply relies on Word and Word Basic such faults are really our of our control and are likely to be caused by lack of memory, corrupt documents or a faulty Word installation and fundamentally some problem inherent in Word.
Here are some suggestions:
- Unload other applications. You could be running low on memory of resources. Especially the Microsoft Office Toolbar it is a notorious bug farm. Even Windows 95 can run low on resource memory.
- You really need more than 6MB of memory to run Word.
- Delete the TMP files that Word leaves hanging around. (Especially in you temp directory. Windows 95 needs a lot of spare disk space
- Unload other Word add ins and global templates. Especially the MS Internet Assistant and their Macro virus killer!
Important - If you have installed the "Microsoft Word Macro Virus killer" re-install Word 7 as this can adversely affect your Word installation.
- Try EasyHTML/Help on a new document to see what happens then.
- Embedded pictures and Microsoft Draw often give rise to corrupt documents that can cause GPF faults. Remove them or start a new document and paste the existing text in. Often the last paragraph of a document can become corrupt.
- Make sure you have enough temporary disk space
- Try re installing Word and then reinstalling EasyHTML/Help. Get the latest version of EasyHTML/Help and let us know if the examples work OK.
